Walnut Creek will host a community workshop on September 24, 2026 to gather input on the Walnut Creek 2050 General Plan update.

The City of Walnut Creek will hold its first community workshop for the Walnut Creek 2050 General Plan update on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Park Community Center Assembly Hall, 1375 Civic Drive, according to a city news release.

The General Plan is the city's long-range blueprint for land use, housing, transportation, public services, safety and sustainability. The update will guide decisions through 2050.

The workshop is set up as a self-guided open house — residents can drop in at any point during the two-hour window. Attendees will be able to review and comment on a draft vision and guiding values, flag key issues and opportunities, and mark up an interactive map with ideas about housing, jobs, recreation and community gathering places. Food, refreshments, children's activities and raffle prizes will be available.

For residents who cannot attend in person, the city said a virtual open house and online questionnaire will be posted for a limited time after Sept. 24 at WalnutCreek2050.org.

The Sept. 24 event is the first of several planned engagement rounds. Additional workshops, pop-up events and focus groups will follow throughout the planning process, the city said.
