First Walnut Creek 2050 workshop set for Sept. 24 at Civic Park

Walnut Creek residents are invited to participate in the first community workshop for the Walnut Creek 2050 General Plan update, scheduled for Thursday, September 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Park Community Center Assembly Hall, located at 1375 Civic Drive. This event marks the beginning of a comprehensive process to shape the city's future through 2050, covering key areas such as land use, housing, transportation, and sustainability.

The community workshop will play a crucial role in gathering input from local residents, which will help guide the city's long-term planning decisions. Attendees will have the opportunity to review and comment on a draft vision and guiding values, as well as provide feedback on key issues and opportunities. This engagement is vital for ensuring that the community's needs and aspirations are reflected in the General Plan, which will influence the city's development over the next three decades.

The Walnut Creek 2050 General Plan update is a significant milestone in the city's ongoing efforts to ensure sustainable growth and development. Previous updates to the General Plan have shaped the city's urban landscape and guided its evolution. The current update, led by the Community Development Department, aims to build on past successes while addressing new challenges and opportunities.
