Napa High School Prepares 28th Athletic Hall of Fame Induction as Napa Valley College Trustee Candidates Debate Housing
Napa High School honors 2003 alumna Dr. Charelle Braden on October 24 while Napa Valley College trustee candidates outline student housing and career-technical priorities ahead of the November 3 election.

Educational institutions and civic groups across Napa County are marking a busy autumn week of alumni athletics recognition and public election forums ahead of the Tuesday, November 3 general election. At Napa High School, located at 2475 Jefferson Street in Napa, school district officials and alumni athletics committee members are finalizing preparations for the 28th annual Napa High School Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, October 24. A highlight of the weekend celebration is the formal induction of 2003 graduate Dr Charelle Braden, a standout multi-sport varsity student-athlete who excelled in both basketball and golf.
Coaches, educators, and booster board members noted that Braden's achievements on the hardwood and the golf course set a lasting standard for female student-athletes across the Napa Valley Unified School District. Proceeds from the $65 Hall of Fame banquet tickets and community sponsorships help fund athletic equipment grants and student scholarship programs. Alumni traveling from San Francisco, Walnut Creek, and Oakland are expected to join local families along Jefferson Street for Saturday's ceremony.
Across the valley at Napa Valley College, located at 2277 Napa-Vallejo Highway, higher education governance took center stage as six of the eight candidates running for the Napa Valley College Board of Trustees addressed voters during an October 14 public election forum. Co-sponsored by the Napa Valley Register and guided by moderator Dan Evans, the debate examined fiscal oversight, enrollment growth, and regional workforce alignment. Community members and faculty commission representatives packed the campus forum to evaluate how the governing board will allocate $18 million in upcoming instructional and facilities funding.
Throughout the forum, trustee candidates emphasized rebuilding institutional trust, expanding affordable on-campus student housing, and strengthening career-technical certificate programs serving Napa County's viticulture, hospitality, and healthcare employers. Panelists noted that more than 60 percent of students balance coursework with local employment, making affordable campus housing and reliable transit essential for graduation success. Candidates also pledged closer collaboration with public high schools across Napa, Yountville, St. Helena, Calistoga, and American Canyon.
Early voting and official ballot drop-off services remain open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Napa County Election Division at 1127 First Street, Suite E in downtown Napa for voters across the valley.
