Legendary folk singer and songwriter Judy Collins, now 87 years old, will bring her acclaimed "Sweet Judy Blue Eyes" farewell tour to Zellerbach Hall on the University of California, Berkeley campus on Sunday, October 18. Presented by Cal Performances, the evening concert will open with a performance by Norwegian folk-pop duo Oakland Rain before Collins takes the main stage. Designed as an intimate retrospective of her six-decade musical career, the tour incorporates special musical guests, candid onstage conversations, and filming for a planned feature documentary.

While the "Sweet Judy Blue Eyes" run marks the conclusion of her traditional full-scale touring schedule, organizers noted that a subsequent "Celebration Encore" concert series will give Collins future opportunities to revisit neglected repertoire and personal stories in select halls. Throughout her remarkable late-career creative surge, Collins has continued to publish new music and literature that resonate deeply with Bay Area audiences across Berkeley, Oakland, San Francisco, and Walnut Creek. In 2022, she released the Grammy-nominated album "Spellbound," which became the first studio record of her career consisting entirely of her own original compositions.

Deep personal reflection also shapes Sunday evening's Zellerbach Hall program following the passing of Collins' second husband, renowned industrial designer Louis Nelson, who died in 2024 after 46 years together. Channeling those decades of partnership and artistic resilience, Collins published the poetry collection "Sometimes It's Heaven: Poems of Love, Loss and Redemption" in 2025. Concertgoers can expect to hear signature crystalline interpretations of classics from the 1960s folk revival alongside newer original ballads and readings that bridge generations of American cultural history.

Cal Performances officials and campus arts committees highlighted that hosting historic musical voices at Zellerbach Hall enriches both university students and the broader Alameda and Contra Costa County arts community. Having Norwegian sister duo Oakland Rain open the Berkeley date also continues Collins' lifelong tradition of mentoring emerging international songwriters on major concert stages. Pre-show dining along Bancroft Way, Shattuck Avenue, and Telegraph Avenue is expected to be brisk on Sunday afternoon ahead of the performance.

Concert tickets, seating availability, and campus parking information for the Sunday, October 18 Judy Collins performance at Zellerbach Hall can be accessed through the Cal Performances box office portal at calperformances.org. Patrons may also visit the ticket window on Bancroft Way or call guest services at (510) 642-9988 for accessibility accommodations and program details.
