At Bourbon Highway, line dancing runs five nights a week on North Main
Friday brings live country music downstairs at 6:30 p.m. and line dancing upstairs at 8:30, with the bar going 21-and-over after that.
Line dancing has become the week's backbone at Bourbon Highway, the two-floor country bar at 1677 N. Main St. in downtown Walnut Creek. The bar's posted lineup has dancing upstairs every night it is open, Tuesday through Saturday.
Friday is the fullest night. Live music starts downstairs at 6:30 p.m. and is open to all ages. At 8:30 p.m. the upstairs floor turns over to line dancing with a DJ, and the bar goes 21-and-over for the rest of the night. At 9 p.m. the downstairs room switches to a DJ and karaoke. Saturday runs the same shape with more on either end: beginner line dancing upstairs at 4 p.m., live music downstairs at 6:30, swing dancing lessons upstairs at 7, then line dancing at 8:30 and karaoke downstairs at 9.
Midweek is quieter and all ages. Tuesday has karaoke downstairs at 6:30 p.m. and line dancing upstairs at 8. Wednesday pairs music bingo downstairs with partner and line dancing lessons upstairs. Thursday is trivia downstairs, line dancing upstairs.
The kitchen runs to homemade cornbread, burgers, wings and tacos, with plates meant to share between songs. The bar is closed Sunday and Monday, opens at 4 p.m. the rest of the week, and closes at midnight Tuesday through Thursday and at 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The phone number is (925) 979-1678.
Bourbon Highway has been on North Main since 2017, according to Walnut Creek Downtown, the business association for the district.
