The San Francisco 49ers are preparing to unleash a revamped defensive front against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday following the trade return of All-Pro defensive tackle DeForest Buckner and the recovery of edge rusher Nick Bosa, even as San Francisco's urban landscape debuts in-home humanoid cleaning robots from Tau Robotics and a 10,000-square-foot wellness floor at Union Square's Hotel Nikko.

DeForest Buckner and Nick Bosa Reunite on 49ers Defensive Front

Seven years after anchoring San Francisco's 2019 Super Bowl pass rush together, 32-year-old defensive tackle DeForest Buckner and star edge rusher Nick Bosa will take the field side by side on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Drafted by San Francisco in the first round in 2016 and traded to Indianapolis after the 2019 season, Buckner was reacquired ahead of the trade deadline as Bosa returns to the lineup after missing time with a calf strain. Under defensive line coach Kris Kocurek, Buckner joins free-agent interior signing Osa Odighizuwa—who recorded 51 quarterback pressures last season, nearly matching the 56 combined pressures generated by all 49ers interior defensive tackles in 2025—making San Francisco 1 of only 5 NFL teams fielding 2 defensive tackles with at least 20 pressures each this season.

Buckner has also immediately mentored 242-pound 2nd-round rookie edge rusher Romello Height, who has joined the veteran tackle for 5:30 a.m. weight-room and film sessions at team headquarters as Kocurek deploys Height in the wide-nine speed-rusher role once filled by 243-pound edge rusher Dee Ford in 2019.

Tau Robotics Pilots 4.5-Foot Humanoid Cleaners in San Francisco Apartments

Back in the city, residents are testing domestic robotics firsthand through San Francisco startup Tau Robotics, which is piloting 4.5-foot-tall humanoid cleaning robots inside local apartments.

Cofounded by chief executive Cornelia Weinzierl, Tau Robotics equips wheeled and bipedal 4.5-foot humanoid frames with custom 3D-printed heads and articulated gripper claws. After initially offering a $30 promotional booking for a 1-hour single-robot cleaning session, the startup now offers a $60-per-week subscription where a human handler brings 2 robots into an apartment (or $100 for a one-time visit). While the robots perform floor vacuuming and mopping autonomously, remote operators use teleoperation to guide complex surface wiping and tidying tasks—logging real-world household trajectories across a couple hundred home visits to train the company's physical AI models.
